The saddest part is that songs like this are necessary.

I think I speak for a lot of Canadians when I say we still want to be friends.

President Trump, through his threats and repeated false claims (and yes, most were outright lies) about Canada, broke the trust our friendship was built on, and rebuilding that trust will take a long time. Canadians need to become more independent of the United States, but I still hope we can be friends.

I want to visit America again. I have many wonderful friends there, but for now they'll have to come here instead, because I don't feel welcome in a country whose president wants to steal my country.

And yes, America, you're welcome to come visit. Just leave your MAGA hats behind.
